Google Got the 'App'titude Challenge

If you haven't already heard about this, then you should check this.
Hah! so me is the team leader of my 5-man 4 man & a woman team. Well, the challenge ain't that challenging but for a college which doesn't have its webpage and mail, I guess it is pretty exciting.
To-do's:
  1. Get the admin rights for the domain rgiit.ac.in (Arghhhhhhh!)
  2. Build the webpage, mail service, blah-blah in 7 days (But that can't be done without 1.)
  3. Do the testing in next 3 days.
  4. Release and try to achieve a really high app usage.
Neat!

"Achieve the highest level of Google Apps usage amongst all participating colleges by January 31, 2009 to be declared the challenge winner! "...
If 100 colleges try for this, atleast 40-50 will start using google apps seriously :), its a great try from google to make a big base in academia ;)

amazing are the ways google makes people to work for free for its own publicity & presence, dominance whatever you call it.

^ Agreed! Hats off to Google's marketing strategies.

But as I mentioned earlier, for a college like RGIIT which doesn't have its own webspace, its pretty convenient and as long as the service is free its good for both Google and us.

Yup in that case its great. Did you ppl try for it?
My college already has a home grown system which they don't use properly. Our teachers hardly receive mails from external networks ;)... things are blocked :P

Besides when I was in the web committee I gotta see how shortsighted and resource less they are. Overall nothing is bad about 'App'titute everyone's getting helped in a way :)
